About Us
Hi, I'm Cathy. I'm the Founder of Paxful House Foundation. I’ve been around addiction my entire life. I understand addiction from many different perspectives. My father was an alcoholic for over 30 years, including the first 13 years of my life. As he overcame his addiction, my own struggles began. By 16 I was deep into my own addiction and had dropped out of school. Thankfully I got the help I needed in a sober living program. I spent a year there and was able to catch up with my studies and figure out what I wanted my life to look like.
I was nervous when it was time to leave, afraid to go home and possibly reengage with the harmful influences that had existed in my life. I was terrified of leaving the positive support system that I had developed in the program. I wished there was a home, with the same type of peer support system, that I could have entered to help me confidently transition back into daily life in the outside world. Fortunately, I found my community and never looked back. My life is very different today. I am a wife and mother, a small business owner and investor.
Starting a sober living home is a very personal endeavor for me. Like nearly half of all families in the US, addiction still affects my extended family today.
The seed to help was planted in me many years ago. I started Paxful House Foundation with a passion to create a supportive and transformative environment for those taking the next step in their sobriety journey. Paxful House seeks to provide a safe, welcoming and peaceful home where those in recovery can focus on creating the life they want and deserve.
At Paxful House we strongly support the 12 Step Program. Our intention for the individuals who walk thru our doors is that they will get more than just a clean place to lay their head down. Our goal is to help them transition back into the world with confidence and the understanding that they are worth it.
